An introduction to healing & therapy
In the same way our bodies earn scars, our minds collect wounds. But while a bruise or a scrape can take a matter of days to heal, mental wounds can stay open and fester, taking years to resolve themselves. The process of healing our minds is called therapy: the process by which our minds heal their wounds. There are many different types of therapy, and no single solution is best. Some therapeutic methods are more intense and can lead to fast results while others take more time.
Deciding on the right type of healing for you requires the consideration of several factors:
- How fast you are looking to heal (generally speaking, the faster you go, the more challenging it becomes and the less time you spend in pain)
- The depth of the wound you are seeking to heal (limiting beliefs resolve themselves in the mind much differently than sexual trauma)
- Your openness to the method of healing (talk therapy is more generally accepted by the public while psychedelic therapy still has not entered the mainstream)
The Three Levels Of Healing
At Hama, we categorize healing modalities by intensity.
Level One modalities have low intensity and typically take slightly longer to get results
Level Two modalities have a moderate level of intensity and normally lead to faster results than Level One
Level Three modalities are the most intense and can lead to very rapid changes.
Some people respond better to low-intensity modalities which take slightly longer to enact change while others prefer high-intensity modalities and more rapid results. Neither option is better or worse than another, so it is important to pay attention to which healing path feels right for you.
If you are just getting started in your healing journey and want to dip your toes in the water, start working with Level One modalities. On the other hand, if you are ready to go all-in on your healing journey, Level Three is waiting for you.
Every person’s healing journey is different.
The categorizations on the following pages are there as one of many possible lenses through which you can look at the world of healing. Some people may find Level One modalities to have a higher intensity than Level Three.
At Hama, we have conducted first-hand research and surveyed our network on the modalities listed in this mini-course and have come up with the categorizations that you will see shortly—but that doesn’t mean they will apply in the exact same way to you. Such is the nature of being a human.
We encourage you to explore these options with an open mind and a willingness to step outside your comfort zone knowing that your intuition, along with proper advice from an expert, will lead you to the healing modality that is right for you.
